Overview
Mochi is a local Electron desktop companion. It can operate with local models and speech tools, and it can also use optional online AI, image, search, and wake-word services configured by the user.
Local data
Notes, records, generated images, screenshots, thumbnail-board state, model files, voice files, settings, and local environment configuration are stored under user-controlled local application data locations.
Voice and model providers
Local mode processes chat and supported voice workflows on the device. GPT or realtime modes send conversation audio, text, and necessary context to the configured OpenAI service. Wake-word setup may use a locally configured Picovoice access key and keyword file.
Optional images and search
Image generation and optional Exa web search send the prompt or query needed to provide the requested result. Those providers process information under their own terms and account settings.
Computer control
Computer-use mode can inspect the foreground window, take screenshots, open apps, and operate named or coordinate-based controls after the user enables that mode. Screenshots and interface details may contain sensitive information and should be handled carefully.
Your choices
You choose the provider mode, optional services, operating-system permissions, and whether to enable computer control. You can remove local Mochi data through the application data folder and revoke provider keys through each provider.
